John Fox, trading as BinDay ("we," "us," or "our"), is the data controller responsible for your personal data. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Acts 1988–2018.
2. Data We Collect
We process only the minimum data necessary to provide the Service:
- Identity & Contact Data: Name and email address provided during registration.
- Location Data: Eircode prefix (e.g., W91) to localize waste collection schedules.
- Transaction Data: Payment confirmation and subscription status processed via Stripe.
- Technical Data: IP address, device type, and usage patterns collected for security and service optimization.
3. Purpose of Processing and Legal Basis
We process your data under the following legal bases:
- Contractual Necessity: To provide the reminders and services you have requested.
- Legitimate Interests: To improve our AI scanning accuracy and optimize app performance.
- Consent: For any marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time.
4. Third-Party Data Processors
We do not sell your data. We share data only with essential "best-in-class" processors:
- Infrastructure: Firebase (Google Cloud) for database hosting and authentication.
- Payments: Stripe for secure financial transactions (we do not store credit card numbers).
- Intelligence: Anthropic (AI) for processing waste-related image data (processed pseudonymously where possible).
5. Data Retention & International Transfers
Data is retained only as long as your account is active. Where data is transferred outside the EEA (e.g., to US-based servers for Firebase or Anthropic), we ensure Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) are in place to maintain EU-equivalent protection.
6. Your Statutory Rights
Under GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Access/Portability: Request a copy of your data.
- Rectification/Erasure: Request correction or deletion of your account.
- Restriction/Objection: Limit how we process your data.
