Greyhound Recycling bank holiday collections
The next Irish bank holiday is Christmas Day on Friday 25 December 2026. Greyhound’s September 2026 guidance says bank-holiday Monday collections run as scheduled, with no collections on Christmas Day or St Stephen’s Day. An older July 2025 page instead names Christmas Day and New Year’s Day as exceptions. These published festive rules conflict: use the current calendar or message for your address to confirm the actual dates.
Source: Greyhound September 2026 holiday guidance. Also see Greyhound July 2025 guidance (different festive exceptions). Checked . This is general guidance, not a verified collection date for your home.

What goes in each Greyhound Recycling bin?
- Green or recycling bin: paper, cardboard packaging, cartons, junk mail, plastic bottles, soft plastics such as bread wrappers, cereal bags and bubble wrap, food tins, drinks cans and foil.
- Brown or food waste bin: food waste, egg shells, coffee grounds, and garden waste such as grass clippings and branches where your plan collects it.
- Glass: glass bottles and jars go to a bottle bank, not the green bin.
- Black or general waste bin: only what cannot be recycled, composted or brought to a bottle bank or recycling centre.
Drinks cans and plastic bottles with the Re-turn logo can instead go back to a Re-turn machine for your deposit.
